David Barnard became a newly elected Shuswap Hospital Foundation Board member at the September 10, 2014, AGM. Dave was born in Salmon Arm and attended Carlin, J.L. Jackson and the Salmon Arm Senior High schools, graduating in 1970. He attended Simon Fraser University and University of Victoria, graduating in 1976 with a Bachelors’ Degree in Economics. Dave articled with KPMG and received designation as a Chartered Account in 1981. Robert ‘Bob’ Burechailo was born and raised in rural Saskatchewan. He attended the U.of S. in Saskatoon and received his B.Sc. in 1969 and M.D. Degree in 1974. Bob moved to Salmon Arm with his wife and family in 1975 and joined the Shuswap Medical group as a general practitioner. After 25 years, he shifted gears and spent the last 10 years of his medical career as a medical locum. This took him to various communities in B.C., Newfoundland and P.E.I. Eugene Casavant has resided in Salmon Arm for the past 32 years. He worked for 15 of those years as the CEO of the Shuswap Lake General Hospital as well as other health care operations. He worked consistently to bring health care services into one stream. He spent much effort in bringing a regionalization program into force that would maintain a community driven delivery system. These efforts were dashed by a political decision. He retired from the system in 1998 and spent some 15 years since volunteering for the Hospital Foundation. Dr. Darren Lorenz joined the Shuswap Hospital Foundation Board in 2016. He and his wife Susan have 3 children, ages 8, 10, and 12 and have been fortunate to live in the Salmon Arm area since 2007. He is a full service family physician currently working at the Mount Ida Medical Clinic, as well as Salmon Arm Mental Health and Substance Use. He is an active member of the medical staff. Gloria Lynd and her husband Warne moved to Salmon Arm in 2007 to help their son start Apple Auto Glass. Gloria had spent many years as an Emergency Nurse in the Lower Mainland. She joined the Shuswap Lake Health-Care Auxiliary in 2008 and has enjoyed being back in the hospital environment as a volunteer. Gloria has been appointed as the new Auxiliary Board Representative, and is looking forward to being part of the Hospital Foundation Board.
Theresa Markowski was elected to the Board of Shuswap Hospital Foundation at the September 10, 2014 AGM. Theresa graduated from Salmon Arm Senior High School and went on to a very rewarding career in nursing. Theresa’s background in medical nursing included work in Peritoneal Dialysis, Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Care Unit, Operating and Recovery areas. In addition Theresa has had experience in leadership and in-charge duties, volunteer for Cardiac Ambulatory Rehabilitation Exercise (C.A.R.E.) program while working in the CCU and is a past member of the B.C. Rob Marshall is the new President of the Shuswap Hospital Foundation, elected at the AGM on September 14, 2016. Rob joined the Board of SHF in 2014. Rob and his wife Nicole have lived in Salmon Arm for 11 years, Rob has pursued a career in the retail industry for over 40 years and many of those in management and leadership roles. He recently transitioned to a new position as Executive Director at Community Futures Shuswap. Angie Spencer, CPA, CA is a new nominee to the board. Angie grew up in Salmon Arm and has recently returned to the community after 20 years, with her husband Bill and their two children Liam (6) and Saige (2).
