Campaigns 2011 Each year the Shuswap Hospital Foundation works on projects to generate funds in order to buy new equipment for this excellent facility - Shuswap Lake General Hospital. Our donors are so generous and these projects are helped along by dedicated volunteers who give their time to help reach our lofty goals which include the purchase of amazing equipment so our doctors can give us the best of care. The current campaign is raising funds for the purchase of a Gamma Probe and an Infant Care Centre.

25th Anniversary Celebration Tea:

September 21st at 3:00 pm at the McGuire Lake Park beside Shuswap Lake Hospital was the date & time of our Jubilee Celebration to thank our Donors, Volunteers and former & current Board Members. 

Board President Dr. Brian Ayotte welcomed and thanked the attendees for their support and participation over the years. Eugene Casavant, Volunteer Managing Director,  gave an informative account of the history of the Shuswap Hospital Foundation.   

After the formalities, coffee, tea, juice and a delightful cake were served by board & staff members and then it was time for a lot of visiting and reminiscing.

25th Anniversary Report from the President:  

Now that the last few years of major fund raising for things like the CT Scanner and equipment for the new and expanded Emergency and Diagnostic Imaging Departments is finished and the new items are in place, the Foundation can now again focus on some of the other urgent needs for the hospital and other health care services.

We are so pleased to see the acquisition of a bus for use by Bastion Place and Harmony Haven clients.  The community has again been so very generous.  A Trauma X-ray machine was installed recently and this will bring the long awaited third X-ray machine into service.  Newborns will again benefit with the addition of the portable incubator.      

Priority equipment needs continue to present themselves.  The Foundation, with the continued generosity of the community, will be supporting additional equipment valued at over $400,000 in the next several months.  This equipment will be available to improve service in the Operating Rooms, the Laboratory, Emergency, Bastion Place and Harmony Haven by way of the current Silver Jubilee Campaign.

It is a pleasure to work with the Board, staff and Volunteers who create the environment to fulfill the many challenges we achieve each year.  The Committee structure of the Board and the succession planning, along with the policies and procedures of the Foundation all help to serve us well.

We offer our thanks as we work to a common cause of making our our community a   better and healthier place.
