Addie Williams was raised and educated in Salmon Arm and went on to graduate as a nurse. During her early career she built her skill set in OR and nursing management including a year at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Addie further completed a year of nursing administration at Dalhousie University. Addie returned to Salmon Arm where she was married to Dr. Ralph Williams, raised her daughter Theresa and enjoyed her work at Shuswap Lake General Hospital which she describes as a very happy and fulfilling place to work. Addie went on to work for 26 years in Emergency and OR, retiring two years after her husband Dr. Ralph Williams. Following the death of her husband, Addie was invited to join the Shuswap Hospital Foundation Board and enjoys her work in helping the Foundation to reach it’s goals. Addie’s daughter Theresa, also a trained nurse, worked with Addie at the hospital for many years in OR.
At the September 10, 2014 Shuswap Hospital Foundation AGM Joe Johnson presented Addie Williams with a plaque honouring her for 12 years of service to the Shuswap Hospital Foundation Board, and 3 years as Treasurer. Addie was always involved, always willing to lend a hand, and has provided lots of wisdom. Addie Williams thanked the Board, noting that her heart is in this hospital, and she still looks forward to helping in any way she can.
